Lose 200 pounds in 1 weekend!

HAHA YEAH, I WISH.

Well, sorry to disappoint but this 200 lbs won’t come from your stomach, butt, or thighs, it will come from none other than……

YOUR HOUSE.

With this warmer weather slowly creeping in, it’s about time for what we all love/hate: Spring Cleaning. Whether you’re getting ready to sell your home or not, everyone needs a nice declutter/cleaning session. I took some time to read/skim “Lose 200 lbs this weekend, it’s time to declutter your life” by Don Aslett. Let me tell you, I’m a combination of a vacuum maniac, organization queen, and cloroxing freak, but even I have a hard time parting with some of my “junk.”

One tactic that has helped me with my clothes/knick-knack/ furniture/book/movie/home decor purging is this phrase:
“If you do not love, use, or need it, GET RID OF IT.” You will feel so much better once you do…That old phrase really is true: “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure.” So, go ahead, make someone’s day.

According to the author, there are associated mental benefits from de-cluttering. He says De-junk=de-stress! Makes sense to me….We are all SO over-booked, over-worked, and over-tired. Every single minute of our day is necessary. So why are we keeping things around that are unnecessary?

Look at some of these words that describe “excess” in the home:

piles

bulging

stacks

overflow

burdened

disorganized

chaos

loaded

Did you feel good after reading those? I know I sure didn’t.  All of those words instantly made me cringe. Is it possible that our subconscious is thinking that every time we are in our own home? EXCESS=STRESS.

Do yourself a favor and don’t be afraid to get rid of what you do not need! Lack of time is not an excuse. Even if you only have 5 minutes a day to devote to decluttering, DO IT 🙂

Here are some tips to avoid future clutter/excess:

1. Do not just weed it out, get rid of it. (moving it to the upstairs closet does not count as de-cluttering)

2. Don’t let the piling creep up- only keep the stuff you use every day easily accessible.

3. Actively avoid and dodge clutter ( recognize it before it gets too big)

4. THINK before you buy or charge…New may be better, but is it necessary?

5. Just because it is “FREE” or “ON SALE” does not mean you have to have it

Last, but certainly not least (I am SO guilty of this)…….

6. REMEMBER THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WANTS AND NEEDS

Midtown, Uptown & Everywhere in Between

The nice thing about living in Columbus is that when you don’t know what you’re doing, someone else does.

Today was such a beautiful day-one of those days that you just want to be outside. With all of this cold weather lately, sunshine and 60 degrees was welcomed with open arms! I immediately thought of going to the River walk…which made me think- How fortunate am I to have access to amenities such as strolling (or rafting) along the beautiful Chattahoochee river? I often take these natural luxuries for granted since I have lived here my whole life… Today I decided to share some of my favorite parts of Columbus on my way from midtown to uptown with those that may not be as familiar with this unique city.

When I think of one word that describes Columbus, I think “local” because the restaurants and shops that truly shape the city’s culture are owned and operated by Columbus natives and their families. Pictured above are some of my favorite restaurants along the Macon Road route to Uptown Columbus. Below I have shared my favorite menu items from these restaurants:

1. Deorios – (you seriously can’t go wrong with anything) but I prefer a 10″ Hawaiian pizza so I don’t have to share 🙂

2. Speakeasy – Roast Beef Au Jus, Turkey Rider, & Pita Pizzas are three I can’t discriminate between because they are all incredible. OH AND DON’T FORGET TO ORDER CCQ (Chili con queso) AS AN APPETIZER- trust me you will not regret it.

3. Dinglewood – Chili dog with cheese, crackers and pickles. no. questions. asked.

4. Black Cow – Pimento cheese burger with fried green beans. YUM.

The nice thing about Uptown Columbus is the Urban city life with the small town feel. The newly renovated Eagle & Phenix Mills have been transformed into gorgeous one-of-a-kind lofts and condominiums with a front row view of the Chattahoochee (which is now a major white water rafting and zipline destination). The area is wonderful because the long history of Columbus remains engrained into its infrastructure while new Urban growth is restoring its lively spirit.

Thank you for letting me share the snapshots of my journey today. For those of you who are not residents of Columbus, I hope you enjoyed the mini tour! If you’re ever thinking of moving to the area, contact me: movewithmorganbatson@gmail.com

Happy Valentine’s Day! Make sure to tell someone that you love them.

Hello Real Estate world!

Success is a journey, not a destination.

If you can’t already tell, I am EXTREMELY excited about embarking on this new career. We all have these big plans for our lives, but all I have to say is God knows what He is doing- Jeremiah 29:11. Never did I EVER believe that I would become a real estate agent post-college, (I was Pre-Med) but it truly fell into my lap and I couldn’t be more ecstatic and grateful- Thank you GG and Bob.

For those of you that know me, you know that I am an over-achiever. I hope that I can put this quality to use while helping others make one of the most important decisions of their lives.

I will be posting little tips and tricks to get sellers ready to sell, as well as suggestions for buyers to make their home-buying experience easy as pie (and then they can eat some to celebrate). I will also post info about new listings to keep everyone in the loop. I am beyond grateful for all of the support from my friends and family, and I look forward to serving the Columbus & Phenix City area!

Happy Thursday!
